Everyday carry is intended for just that, being prepared every day. This extends to many different facets. Some of the biggest aspects are focused on is defense, medical, and mindset.
Defense is typically the first thing that people think of when they hear EDC. This could be a firearm, a knife, or some weapon that can be used to stop an aggressor. This is popular in social media videos of people showing off their skills handling their weapons. In actuality this is going to be your least used item in your EDC.
Medical gear has a higher likelihood of being used. There are over 6 million accidents in the United States every year. You have a 1 and 15,700 chance of seriously injuring yourself while hiking. Having the proper medical gear with you everyday could potentially save your life or someone else’s life. A basic medical kit and a tourniquet or 2 can make all the difference.
The number one aspect of EDC is your mindset. Being in the state of mind to allow you to notice what is going in your environment will ensure that you have the upper hand in whatever situation that may come your way. It is so easy to stay glued to your phones, disconnected from the world. Look up! Pay attention. Beware of what’s going on. Are you ready to defend your life? Are you prepared to save someone else’s life? How will you manage a stressful situation? How will you manage an aggressor? What degree of force is needed?
These are all questions you must ask yourself. Answer these questions at home before you have to answer them in a moments notice. Build your EDC with purpose.
